Desire. Discipline. Determination.

MAD4Tri is a triathlon coaching team in Dubai, run by head coach Mike Bermingham and his wife Diane. MAD stands for Mike and Diane: the name goes back to the marathon clinics they coached together at the Running Room in Canada, where their runs were listed as MAD runs. They moved to Dubai in 2013, and Mike has coached triathletes since he qualified as an IRONMAN Certified Coach in 2016.

Every programme is personal. It is built on an annual plan around your ability, your goals and your week, delivered in TrainingPeaks and adjusted every week as your training and your schedule change, so you can be coached from Dubai or anywhere else. MAD4Tri athletes race everything from a first sprint to full IRONMAN, and every week the team celebrates them on Instagram: weeks of all-green workouts, new distances, finishes and podiums.

In October 2026 MAD4Tri athletes won their age groups at IRONMAN 70.3 Dhofar and at Aquaman, and this summer others finished Challenge Roth and the Alpe d'Huez Triathlon.

Personalised coaching

An annual plan, adjusted every week

A programme built for you: your current ability, your goals and the hours you have. It follows an annual training plan towards your races and is adjusted every week for how your training went and for anything that changed in your schedule.

Plans come in TrainingPeaks, so you can be coached from Dubai or anywhere in the world, for any distance from sprint to full IRONMAN. Mike is a TRX strength trainer and a PN1 nutrition coach too, so strength work and fuelling are part of the conversation.

Training camps

A weekend of swim, bike, run and race practice

A MAD4Tri camp is a packed weekend for athletes of every level: swim, bike and run sessions, transitions, nutrition and race simulations, at a well-chosen location and in good company.

Dates and places for the next camp are announced on the website and on Instagram.

Training tips every week

Free, on Instagram

Every week MAD4Tri posts a training tip: a race-morning checklist, transitions, carbohydrate and fat as fuel, glycogen, VO2 max, lactate, running economy, bike skills and training through the UAE summer.

And every week the team celebrates its athletes: weeks of all-green workouts in TrainingPeaks, new distances, finishes and podiums.

What MAD4Tri athletes have done

From a first sprint to World Championships

One athlete went from 5:38 at IRONMAN 70.3 Dubai in 2017 to 4:43 over the same distance, won his age group at 70.3 Bahrain and 70.3 Astana, and qualified for three 70.3 World Championships. Another set out to break six hours at his first 70.3, finished in 5:55 and later went 5:12. A working mother finished a half-distance race in 5:34 four months after starting with Mike, and one athlete came to a free TRX session having never swum, then went on to qualify for a World Championship. Others have raced the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon.

In October 2026 MAD4Tri athletes won their age groups at IRONMAN 70.3 Dhofar and at Aquaman.
