Since its inception, the XTERRA Rotorua Festival has grown to become one of the best XTERRA events in the world. Each year we offer seven events for competitors to choose from and are set in and around Rotorua’s Lake Tikitapu and Whakarewarewa Forest. It is without question amongst the most beautiful scenery in New Zealand.

Full Distance Triathlon

The XTERRA New Zealand Championships are the climax of the XTERRA Rotorua Festival. The event is for multi-sport, triathlon, mountain biking and general fitness athletes of all abilities. XTERRA is open to everyone, so it doesn't matter whether you are chasing qualifying spots for the XTERRA World Championships or simply entering your first triathlon. The Rotorua course has been heralded as the best course in the world, so there has never been a better opportunity to have a go at the fastest growing multi-sport format in the world.

Ages 13 & up

This event is a great opportunity for new competitors, or those who want a less-demanding XTERRA experience. The mountain bike course has been designed so it is not technical and 90% on open dirt roads. It also doubles up as the NZ and XTERRA Youth Championship Race.
