Vélo Presto

Book online in about 30 seconds, or by phone or WhatsApp. At the time you booked, a mechanic arrives at your home, office or chosen spot, services the bike there and advises on any parts it needs, such as chains, tyres or inner tubes. Test the bike with the mechanic, then pay by cash, card or payment link.

Servicing runs seven days a week across Dubai. In Abu Dhabi, get in touch for a booking and a quote.

• Basic, AED 275 (1 hour), for bikes serviced often: a safety inspection of frame, fork, drivetrain, cables and bearings, frame clean and polish, drivetrain clean and lube, gears and brakes adjusted, minor wheel truing, a torque check and a test ride.
• Intermediate, AED 430 (2.5 hours), the most popular, every six months: the Basic service with the chain, cassette and cranks taken off, degreased and re-lubed, and full wheel truing.
• Advanced, AED 650 (4 hours), every six to twelve months: a full strip-down, with the headset, bottom bracket and hubs cleaned and regreased, brakes bled, external cables replaced if needed, bar tape rewrapped and the hanger aligned.

Every service includes a free tyre and chain check. Parts are extra.

• Epic, AED 1,475 (from AED 1,870): five clean, lube and safety checks, one Intermediate and one Advanced service, with the Intermediate free.
• Triathlete, AED 999 (from AED 1,485): nine clean, lube and safety checks.

A fit of one to one and a half hours, riding on rollers in the workshop. The fitter talks through your riding goals and cycling history, adjusts your contact points for position and posture, and recommends correctly sized parts where they are needed; triathlon and TT fits include aero upgrades. A road bike fit is AED 500.

Ground level, Shop 11, SKB Plaza, Umm Al Sheif, on Sheikh Zayed Road. The workshop does advanced servicing, bike fits and custom Dolan builds, and stocks parts, accessories, cycle kit and Stashed storage, with TriRig, EZ Gains and Fumpa among its brands. Parts and accessories can be ordered online too.

Custom Dolan builds: road bikes in carbon, alloy or titanium with rim or disc brakes and Shimano or Campagnolo groupsets, the TR2 triathlon bike with fully hidden cables, track bikes and gravel bikes. Certified pre-owned Dolans are available too.

Rent a Dolan Tuono carbon disc endurance bike, or a Dolan RDX aluminium disc, a great first bike for a triathlon, for a race or a ride at Al Qudra. A security deposit is needed, and the rental and the deposit can go towards a new Dolan (one rental of up to a month).

Rent or buy a Bike Box Alan for race trips: the handlebars stay on, and only the wheels and pedals come off. Vélo Presto can pack the bike for you.

Briefing at 5:30 and wheels roll at 5:45 from Bottom of the Stick (BOTS) at Al Qudra; look for the Vélo Presto van. After a warm-up at 29 to 30 km/h to Zad's, choose a group:

• Group 1: triathlete intervals over 64 km, led by coach David Hunt.
• Group 2: tempo endurance over 86 km at 34 to 38 km/h, with the Vélo Presto mechanics.

Once a month in the cooler season the ride goes to the mountains, to Hatta or Jebel Jais, with a Vélo Presto support vehicle and a mechanic. Free and open to all levels, though climbing experience on open roads helps. Bring a road or triathlon bike in good condition, your own food and drink, and lights; a rental bike can be arranged.
