The Laguna Phuket Triathlon, Southeast Asia’s longest-running triathlon, in our integrated resort destination, Laguna Phuket.
Established in 1994, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon (LPT) has earned its place as Southeast Asia’s most enduring and prestigious triathlon event. It was launched through a collaboration between IMG, Laguna Phuket Resorts, and the event production agency PCH Sports.
The course is thoughtfully crafted to balance athletic challenge and scenic beauty. Competitors tackle a 1.8 km swim in the Andaman Sea and lagoon, followed by a 50 km bike ride through the hilly, picturesque Phuket countryside, and conclude with a 12 km run along Laguna Phuket's coastal paths.
Over the years, LPT has welcomed elite triathletes and legends such as Mike Pigg, Paula Newby-Fraser, Mark Allen, Simon Lessing, Michellie Jones, Craig Alexander, and Samantha McGlone.
The event briefly aligned with globally recognized series—partnering with Ironman from 2010 to 2012 and Challenge Family from 2013 to 2015, hosting two consecutive race weekends. Since 2016, LPT has returned to its status as a standalone flagship race.
Held at the scenic, integrated resort of Laguna Phuket—spanning 600 acres of tropical beachfront parkland—LPT is not just a race, but a showcase of Phuket’s hospitality and environment, making it a favored event for both athletes and spectators.
